Getting Our Kicks~ Route 66 Vaca ~ Day 13~ Vegas Baby

Monterey, CA to Las Vegas, NV

It was a cool, windy, foggy 48° morning.
We took our time, ate breakfast and took more shots to wait for the fog to lift.
The time on the picture is EDT while we were in Pacific time.
SO many people were taking their daily walk by the ocean.
I might walk everyday if I had this for a view.

Then on through the dry valleys of California to Bakersfield and Barstow, CA.
Some areas are irrigated for agriculture use and some are not.
I have not a clue what these cows are eating.  Dirt?
This sure goes against those dairy cow commercials talking about how happy they are to be a California cow.
 Lettuce.  Looks like painted fields.

Trees apparently in what is supposed to be the wet areas, are showing beautiful fall foliage.

Vineyards to the foot of the hills.

For a moment I thought we were headed into a "sand" storm as I could see brown clouds on the horizon.  Just a lot of dirt hanging in the air.
Finally, after driving all day across California and Arizona, it's LAS VEGAS baby!
I'm still trying to figure out what time it is!
~
The GPS messed up and sent us to downtown instead of our hotel on the edge of town.
So we tried to get some night shots.
Just found out we chose the worst weekend possible.  3 big events going on this weekend plus Halloween Parties.
Sounds like we were lucky to get a room.
We love tonight's room but can't book it for tomorrow night.  The place is full.
Oh well, we can dream for a few hours.
Nope, I don't like to gamble and don't.  I don't even buy lottery tickets.

  1. More gorgeous scenery! A big contrast between the first photos and the shots of Vegas. What a great trip!
