Sun Best ~ Humming Bird House Call

I had put up a hummingbird feeder.
Before long I had a customer.
and some I didn't want.
The customer was curious and cautious,

 but had a good meal.
He/she even gave a great pose.
BUT, after the meal,
he/she decided to make a house call
and flew through my open doors into the house.

Poor thing. You could tell he/she couldn't understand being able to see a tree and not get to it.
She/he never landed. Just kept those wings going.
Once she/he got behind the blinds, I was able to capture her.
Of course the heart beat matched the wing speed.
For a long minute I felt the amazement that I was even experiencing this event,
After I took my selfish pictures,
she/he had calmed down a bit and
made me feel better to release a calm bird vs an excited bird.
I slowly released my hand,
she took a pause,
and flutter away.
It was a Sunday Best for sure.
Thank-you God for the experience.

Quilt Shot Block ~ Elkhorn Creek Quilt Share

Last month our Quilt Guild gave ourselves a wonderful quilt show.
We brought a quilt that had lots of meaning to us to the meeting to share.
It could be our first quilt we made,
a quilt given to us from our family,
a quilt someone made for us,
or just a quilt full of memories over the past.
I think we even had quilts that date back to about 1930!
This post is sharing only about half of those quilts.

This was one of the oldest, if not the oldest that was brought to the share.
Below, a quilt made in a quilt workshop.
One of the VERY talented ladies,
makes art quilts to represent an experience she had.
One piece depicted a Mexico vacation hurricane.
I could spend a lot of time "reading" her quilt work.

A math teacher retired and I believe this was her first quilt after she retired.
A quilt of her school Tshirts.
Below, is the quilting you can easily see from the back.

Of course I will show the rest of the quilts,
Sorry ladies, I couldn't remember all the stories.
I was busy trying to take pictures.

Thanks to the FREE program

Fun or Funny Fri Foto ~ Beginner's Sewing Class

We followed the directions from this past Tutorial Tuesday,
One for sure lesson a Beginner learns is,
"Sew, Press, Sew."

Pinning is usually a new skill to learn for young Beginner's.
Look at those perfectly matched centers!
Have a Fun Friday!

Thoughtful Thinking Thursday #99 ~ Reminded of Fishes and Loaves

Last Friday I mentioned I worked with scraps
and Saturday I showed a block made from those scraps.
Funny thing about those scraps.
 I sorted
and matched, and sewed and trimmed
and matched, and sewed and trimmed
and matched, and sewed and trimmed
for about 90 minutes and turned out 6 twelve inch blocks
and still had this!
and this
after another 2 hours of matching, sewing and trimming and
when what to my wondering, blurry eyes appeared?
AND I still had this!↓
I thought about the fishes and the loaves written about in John 6: 1-14
and retold several more times in the New Testament,
because when I finished I still collected 2 baskets of scraps!
I THINK my scraps were multiplying on the table before I could use them?
When they do get down to be so small that a quarter inch seam would eat them up,
they go to the "Doggy Bag" at the local quilt shop called Birdsong.
"THINK about it."
